I looked up from my book as Evan stepped back into our room from the balcony. “I’ve just finalized the rest of the arrangements for your father’s funeral.” Evan told me. He sat on the bed beside me, his eyes flickering over the words in my book. A blush covered my cheeks as I quickly yanked it down from his view.

Evan smirked that devilish smirk of his at me, his voice dropping to a soft, husky tone that had my nerve endings curling with desire. “I can guarantee you that I can make you feel better than he’s currently making her feel in that book.” Evan promised as he leaned forward and placed an open-mouthed kiss on my neck that had me shuddering with pleasure.

He curled his fingers around my waist, tugging me closer to him, his lips slanting over mine with a kiss that made me lose my entire train of thought. The book fell from my hands as I gripped his white button up shirt in my fists, moaning softly.

A shrill ringtone cut through our moment. With a muttered curse, Evan pulled back from me and grabbed his phone out of his pocket. “Greene.” He said into the phone.

He sighed after the person on the other end of the phone spoke. “Thanks for the reminder, Taylor.”

Evan hung up his phone and leaned over to kiss me softly once more. He pulled back all too soon. “I have to attend a dinner party. My personal assistant just called to remind me. Did you bring a gown with you?” Evan asked me as he slid off of the bed.

“W-Wait, I’m going with you?” I stammered, sliding off of the bed as well.

Evan nodded. “I know you don’t normally because I kept you cooped up at home, but I’d like you to attend this with me, Imogen.” He told me honestly.

I bit my lip, thinking about what was in my luggage. With a sigh, I realized I didn’t have a single thing suitable for a dinner party with New York’s most elite.

“Evan, I don’t have anything to wear.” I told him.

He strode over to his laptop and booted it up. “You’ll have to order one very quickly and instruct them to deliver it to our hotel as quickly as possible.” He told me.

With a nod, I sat down with his laptop and began looking through some dresses.
